No one ever said that writing content is easy. It’s difficult, but once you get the hang of it, it is so much fun. There are so many topics you can write about. And the ideas of others can give you so much inspiration and new views. But how to get started?

Here are 5 key steps to go through when writing content.

1. Research 👀

Do your homework. If you know what you want to write about, it is always a good idea to see what others have written about the topic. It gives you inspiration and let you look at the topic from different points of view. Read articles, blogs, books, watch a docu — anything to get a little bit more understanding of the topic.

2. Writing

Grab your pen (or your laptop) and start writing! There are many different strategies. Some people just start writing, they go with the flow, and in the end, they delete all unnecessary text. Others prefer creating an outline and start writing from there. Do whatever makes you feel happy and how you are most productive.

3. Proofread 🤓

I can’t stress enough how important it is to proofread your content. Read it out loud, make sure the paragraphs and sentences make sense. Pay attention to the flow. Let others read your content to get some more feedback. This is all very important for the next step: editing.

4. Editing🌠

After you have proofread your content and received feedback from others, you can start editing. Rephrase those sentences, replace words, connect your paragraphs in a better way, leave out words without added value. Keep your content clear, concise, and easy to read.

5. Publishing🚀

Without actually publishing your content, there is no need to start writing. Many people are insecure about their content. They are afraid it won’t add any value, but that’s so not true! Well, it won’t if you keep it to yourself… So, start sharing with your audience NOW.

Thus, don’t be afraid to get started, publish your work, and receive that feedback. It will only make you a better writer and you can actually help, inform, inspire, entertain, educate (and so on) other people!

GOOD LUCK! If you have any questions or just wanna chat about marketing, feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn or Twitter.
