LinkedIn is an amazing platform to connect with others in your industry, to find a new job, to share your knowledge, and even to sell your products or services. But even if your content game is so strong, your profile should look professional and trustworthy.😊

Trust makes people do business with you. Whether this is buying your product/service or offering you a job. So, here some tips to create a professional, trustworthy LinkedIn profile:

1. Your Profile Picture

A picture of you — it’s the first impression they get. So, make sure you smile, have an open posture, look at the camera, and use a recent photo that is of good quality (no blurry photos!!).

2. Your Subtitle and Header

If people want to know where you work, they will look it up in the work experience section. Your subtitle should be all about what value you have to offer! Similar to your header, it should somehow reveal your personality and be authentic. For example,

Subtitle: Content Marketing | Social Media | Business Communication | Enthusiastic, Eager, & Positive 🔥

3. Your Summary / Bio

This is the first place to show who you are, BUT it is not the place to just simply list your work/school experiences. Tell them what kind of person you are, reveal your personality, what amazing projects you have completed, and other achievements. Time to shine!

4. Highlighted Posts

Highlighted posts are the perfect way to draw new attention to your best-performing posts. Give your connections or future connections a quick impression of what kind of content you post and what your expertise is.

5. Complete all other sections

Add your previous roles including your main responsibilities and achievements. Name where you went to school and what kind of subjects you followed. Add at least 3 skills, your contact details, your location, and the industry you work in.

Give a clear overview of who you are and what you’ve been up to.

6. Your Recommendations

Ask for recommendations! It’s not about how many recommendations you have, but it’s important from who they are. Ask someone you’ve closely worked with, who can actually describe how you work and what you have achieved.

7. Your Custom URL

Last, but definitely not least, a custom URL. Go to your profile and top right you’ll see a setting called “Edit public profile and URL”. Here you can remove the sequence of numbers that are added to your URL and turn it into your custom URL. You’re not a number, you are a person, a very important one!🤩

Custom: /in/sharissa-kuurstra/
